With 48,000 votes from 77 countries, Leuven is chosen as one of the top five destinations to visit in Europe in 2022 and now has the official title of 'European Best Destination'. This list of the best tourist destinations in Europe is compiled annually by European Best Destinations (EBD) and EDEN Network, an initiative of the European Commission.
Thanks to the almost 48,000 votes by many Leuven residents and everyone with a heart for the city, Leuven ended up in the top five. "That Leuven achieves such a brilliant result makes me very proud" says Mayor Mohamed Ridouani. "I would like to thank everyone who voted for our city.”
