Croaking frogs in the ponds

The water frogs at pond 4, which borders on the Norbertijnenweg, are giving it their all.

The adult males croak to attract the females. But they only do this during mating season. You can listen to their mating call here:

The louder the croaking, the more males there are. Another main reason that the frogs croak is to announce their presence regarding other males. This is replete with a massive concert, which starts over again every night until high summer. And that’s when the crickets start their summer concerts…
